On behalf of our client – an international insurance company providing services within of the leading French-owned groups we are looking for candidates for the position of:

 

Head of Actuarial (M/F)

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the Actuarial team under IFRS and Solvency II; including technical provisions, capital requirements, and regulatory actuarial reporting
  • Provide actuarial advice to the Board and Executive Team on commercial decisions, risk exposures, product strategy, and long‑term business planning
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a growing team of actuaries and trainees, fostering technical excellence, professional development, and a culture of high performance
  • Influence key outcomes across Risk, Finance, Underwriting, and the wider business through strong expertise and relationship building
  • Promote robust actuarial governance, best practice standards, and sound professional judgement across the organization
  • Engage confidently with auditors, regulators and senior stakeholders across the local and group company
  • Oversee credit related protection products, affinity protection lines and loan associated protection coverage ensuring accurate, commercially aligned, and data‑driven technical outputs
  • Monitor portfolio performance using BI tools, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to strengthen profitability and sustainability
  • Guide underwriting and actuarial studies, including pricing, reserving, and business risk assessments
  • Support product development and commercial teams, delivering technical insight that shapes competitive and well‑managed product offerings
  • Challenge and validate external actuarial partners and service providers, ensuring quality, alignment, and robustness of actuarial work
  • Prepare and present high‑quality actuarial reports and technical analyses for internal and external audiences
  • Develop actuarial methodologies, frameworks, and governance standards in line with regulatory expectations and business growth

Employer requirements

  • Master’s degree or a recognised professional actuarial qualification in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or finance
  • 5 years of actuarial experience, with solid expertise in both reserving or pricing, experience in both would be considered an asset. Experience across Solvency II, IFRS reporting,
    and actuarial governance frameworks is essential. Exposure to credit-related protection products or affinity insurance lines is considered a strong advantage
  • High proficiency in Excel and comfortable working with BI tools and actuarial or statistical software
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex technical outcomes
    into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong leadership abilities, with proven experience developing and guiding actuarial teams
  • An effective communicator, capable of influencing decision-makers at all levels
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented, and able to work cross-functionally with Risk, Finance, Underwriting and Product teams
